What makes Abaeran different from other online retailers of Japanese products?
In an age of online retailers pulling out all the stops and fancy marketing gimmicks to make a sale, we stand out as Japanese product and culture enthusiasts just like you. We’re not separated from the products we curate by layers of land, sea, or marketing fluff. We live and work in Japan. We source products that we’ve either sought out after hearing murmurs on the street or stumbled upon and fallen in love with.
We’ve created old fashioned, one-on-one relationships with some of the most gifted and eclectic artisans in Japan - craftspeople that are so deeply entrenched in Japanese culture that prior to working with us if you wanted one of their pieces you had to visit their shop in person. Now they offer their products online to international customers, exclusively through Abaeran Japanese Artisan Goods. We bring their work straight to you so you, too, can experience the quality of every piece and the incomparable beauty of authentic Japanese design.
Regular Orders Shipping, Fulfillment, and Insurance
How will my order be shipped and how long does it take?
All orders are shipped from Japan within 5~10 business days from receipt of order via Japan Post Express Mail Service . An express mail tracking number will be emailed with your purchase confirmation. Shipping charges are calculated at checkout based upon our minimum charge, per product destination zone, and shipment weight. Average shipping time to most destinations is roughly (7) working days but may vary depending upon your country's postal system and import procedures.
Will I be charged for customs duties or taxes when my order arrives in my country, in addition to the price I paid for my order?
Please note that you may be charged import duties and/or local taxes for goods purchased from Abaeran, which your customs authority or postal service deems appropriate for goods transported across international borders. Your import duties and/or taxes are not included in the price of our goods. What is payable, if anything, generally depends on where the goods are sent from, the type of goods, their transactional value and the weight of the package. Please contact your local government customs authorities or postal service for detailed information.

Returns, Exchanges and Refunds
Can I return a product?
We understand that sometimes you buy products online, decide that it wasn’t what you expected, and want to make a return. We’ve been there ourselves! Because our products are special order, handmade, and shipped internationally from Japan, all sales must be final. No returns, exchanges or refunds are accepted.
We think this is a fair policy given the quality and type of products we sell. We make every effort to provide high-quality pictures and describe our products in detail, so you know exactly what to expect. If you are not 100% satisfied with our product descriptions while you’re considering your purchase, please contact us and we’ll be happy to answer any questions to assist you with your purchase.
Product and Service Guarantee
We feature only hand-picked, top-quality artisan products. Every piece is made with the finest materials and crafted with care. Because we’ve sourced and experienced these products for ourselves firsthand, we can say without reservation that we stand behind the quality of each piece sold through Abaeran Japanese Artisan Goods whether it’s a regular or bespoke product.
Footwear and Jewelry Sizes
How do I know which size Getals sandals I should order?
We carefully convert our footwear sizes for both men and women from Japanese sizes to sizes for the US, Canada, U.K., and Europe. Foot sizes may slightly vary, however, depending upon your actual foot size, so we recommend that you confirm your foot size prior to ordering. You can confirm your size in the size guide at the bottom of each Getals sandals page.
If you’re unsure of which size sandals will be best for you, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org before you place an order, so we can help you select the appropriately converted size.
How do I know which ring size I should order?
We carefully convert our jewelry sizes from Japanese sizes to sizes for the US, Canada, UK, Ireland Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, and Switzerland. Please check our product size guide for details. Jewelry sizes for rings in particular, however, may slightly vary depending upon your actual finger size and cannot be returned and resized. We highly recommend that you confirm your exact ring size at your local, trusted jeweler, before placing your order.
If the ring you want to order is thick, be sure the jeweler sizes you for a thicker (4mm+) band as that will fit differently than a thinner band (and you will likely need a slightly larger size to wear a thick band comfortably).
We live and work in Japan and source products that we’ve either sought out after visiting trade shows and speaking directly with designers, hearing murmurs on the street, or stumbled upon and fallen in love with.
